Is it better when the happiness is distributed equally on a time scale or when it has certain peaks and valleys? I can't stop thinking about this.

It is better to be happy all the time. Some peaks are nice if they don't cause the negativity of hangovers (thus I wouldn't recommend alcohol or the powders as the boosters, because their net sum is negative)

It's better if you think in terms of contentment instead of "happiness", because the nature of contentment is such that as you cultivate it, it becomes more substantial and more evenly distributed at the same time.
