Two types of intelligence

Hey guys, mathfag at a top 20 university here. Most students here are smart, hardworking good students. However, we have two guys here that are considered as geniuses by everybody who knows them.
>First guy is IMO silver medalist from Italy
>Insane memory, insane calculation speed, finds very creative and concise solutions to very hard problems
>Just all around insane brain horsepower
Just seeing him at action I wonder how the fuck he didn't get gold at IMO. He is so impressive, one time our discrete math prof seeing his solution on the board couldn't hold himself and said "Jesus, you could be next Fermi..."
>Second guy is my roommate
>also IMO silver medalist from Iran
>Says he was sick during IMO and considers it as a failure
>Actually very slow thinker
>Routinely forgets multiplications (like 7*8), formulas and solving methods
>Slow thinker, but eventually he figures out a way to find a solution
Second guy is my roommate and initially I thought he was a dead average midwit. The problems that I solve in 1 minute, he solves in 5 minutes. But, overtime I realized that the problems that I can solve in 2-3 days of intense thinking, he nonchalantly solves in 30 minutes. He has a way of looking at things from above, seeing all moving parts and how they interact with each other. He likes to explain things in words, drawing the whole picture, almost in a philosophical way. I call him a Vision Genius. He gets 100 in every single fkn exam. In Advanced Linear Algebra exam, mean was 37, my roommate got 100.
