Literally everybody who knows anything about integrals and who isn't retarded knows that 1. integrals give the area under the curve, 2. the reciprocal of x's graph's negative part is symmetrical to it's positive part (just flip it over both axes), and 3. that when you have the same area under the x axis as you do above it, the two cancel out because 4. an area under the x axis is negative, ergo the sum is zero.
In layman's terms: the half after x=0 is equal to the half before it, but the half before it is upside down so they both exactly cancel out in the end.
You are either being disingenuous if you contradict this, claim to not understand it, or don't think this is obvious or else you just genuinely don't understand integrals.
