a physics phd is insanely hireable. you might not work in physics or even a physics-adjacent field, but you can make easy money as a quant
there's even tons of jobs wrt physics, like materials research that pay great

The only way that is possible is if she fucked her way to a dissertation, and knows absolutely nothing about mathematics. A maths PhD has ridiculous job prospects. Hell, even as a masters student I had great offers, and I worked for a while before applying for a PhD.

No, I just live in a shithole country that doesn't really have many job prospects and am staying with my gf until her visa can go through. It meant I needed to just take any job despite location not really wanting math skills. Jobs near me are either government, HR, or food service mostly.
I'll probably do something else in the future, but the having a cry about our job prospects was just a joke. 4chan takes things too seriously sometimes.

This is really out of touch. Vast majority of physics and maths PhDs absolutely do not have anywhere near the amount or programming experience required to get into these jobs, let alone be any good at them. Maybe a third of them could do it, but most STEM degrees are not "dude programming lmao" unless you're a total brainlet who should have just gone into programming instead of larping as a mathematician or physicist or whatever in the first place.
