I always thought it was a similar phenomenon to how different people tend to mishear music lyrics in the same way. Only instead of it being music, it's words and memory. Totally unqualified opinion, but I think it's likely.

You know what's weird? Spanish speaking people also misremember the scene in the exact same way. The common phrase here is "espejito, espejito, dime quien es la más bella". I just checked the scene on youtube and they are discussing the mandela effect in the comments.

No. I'm saying translating "mirror mirror" to "magic mirror" (or vice versa) can have any number of reasons. And even within one language or culture, there are variations to almost every aspect of the story.

The same is the case in Swedish as well, except the official Swedish translation does in fact use "Mirror, mirror..." and not "Magic mirror...".

That movie is the only version where it's magic mirror. The original tale uses the german for mirror mirror, and so does every other version.

children are read the actual story in kindergarten. they have and still do even after this film has been released. i doubt the there are more children who have seen this film vs heard the story. obviously because of this ‘mirror mirror’ entered the cultural consciousness and overrides whatever the film says
