You're not going to immediately see the use of what you're learning, the same way a completely illiterate fool could ask "why am I learning how to spell the word 'cat', how is this useful?". The biggest failure in education is the perpetual lie that maths is useful. It's not really all that useful, you can live perfectly without it, the true value of maths is that it's a fun mental exercise.
Anyway, fractions are """useful""" if you want to do anything involving:
>Percentages (discounts, tax rates, money management in general)>Gradients and slope (construction, engineering, architecture, data analysis)>Problem solving involving sharing something between people>Quick mental arithmetic>etc...It's fundamental to mathematics, its almost a precursor to algebra in the way you learn 'symbolic' manipulation.
