The type of people into pop culture and mainstream politics are generally going to be more NPCish than people who do not enjoy pop culture or other aspects of mainstream society as much. Yes we're all individuals, and we're all special, etc., etc., but you can still make statistical claims and other sorts of claims about the relative extent to which a particular individual conforms to social norms, identifies with pop culture, etc. Some people are more susceptible to the influences of their social environment and culture, some people less. If you deny that, then I would argue that you yourself are just being intentionally contrarian.
