memory

Why is my memory immaculate for faces and nothing else? I can be introduced to someone for 20 seconds and then see them again five years later and recall perfectly the image of our original meeting in spite of aging and/or weight gain/loss. I'm constantly being reintroduced to friends of friends of friends with years between meetings and it's clearly not a common thing because everyone feels awkward as fuck when I mention recognizing them.

My memory is only average with everything else however. How is it that I can have a seemingly eidetic memory for faces and only a regular memory for everything else? Is there some way I can train the rest of my memory to be as good as my memory for faces? I also vividly recall the environment in which I first see a face but never the name and almost never the conversations. It's always like "oh yeah we met through X in fall of 2014 at location Y, you were wearing a green shirt but I can't remember your name or what X was talking about". Less autistically than that out-loud, but that's at least my thought process. What gives?
