Working memory question:

Hey anons, I’m a science newbie and I have done my best to understand working short term memory.

According to psychologists, my verbal short term memory is at the 99th percentile. They presented me a list of words (40 or so) and gave me another list, asking if I had seen that word from the prior list. Based on my understanding this used the visuospatial sketchpad and the phonological loop. This is interesting considering I am a musician and have good auditory memory for notes.
When it comes to mental math problems presented orally, I just can’t bring myself to remember any of the numbers or manipulate them properly. Could my primarily inattentive ADHD be affecting this or am I just a retard?
