all my science and math profs generally kept away from politics, even though it was very clear they picked a side from some posters in their office, etc.
generally, OP, just keep your head down and your mouth shut. I wasn't loud about my opinions but I learned quick not to voice them. honestly was a maturity thing, too. I think it's best to live and let live, avoid these divisive conversations. I get surrounded by a lot of "silence is violence" types at work but nobody has ever given me hell over a lack of bumper stickers or not voicing my opinions, even though I went into the job anticipating it somewhat. better to make friends than enemies even if you might disagree with them on some very fundamental things. but yeah college isn't the liberal indoctrination machine right-wingers make it out to be, it's just that groupthink is a VERY powerful phenomenon, so kids kinda go with the crowd. don't go to any Israel vs Palestine protests, don't talk about abortion, and you'll be fine
