So yeah, math will work. In fact, that's what I studied. If you want to get serious about it, I suggest that for the first 2 years you focus 100% on math. As in, actually go full autismo
mode so that your brain gets really big. Then, once your brain is big enough, by your 3rd year start doing career planning. The easiest areas to get into from math are risk analyst in banking or in insurance but if you want you can be more ambitious than that. Any finance career will accept but non-risk positions also have a lot of qualifications beyond just knowing math. Financial modelling, for example, is a kind of modelling that you will hear nothing about in a math degree.
