Naive youth think it's because those doctors have something to enrich the world with. Naive youth doesn't know, that most of those doctors didn't make a single discovery. For most of those "scientists" it's overcompensation and not the most difficult job too. I wish Ai starts reading scientific literature and stops some of that nonsense.

It’s not about getting the thing. It’s about building the skills to do proper research in your field. The paper is worthless and the experience plus being paid to do it has value.

How much value after that will depend on your creativity and capacity to do. That’s what being at the edge of research is - constantly failing with no guarantee that what you study will work
