Later today I will be going on a fossil hunt on a layer of Cincinnati arch Ordovician strata behind my house. I will update as I make my funds. Anyone is free to post fossils that they have found as well as discussions about prehistoric discoveries new and old. creationists not welcome

Ok so an update:I had to return home and I couldn't get any new pics, but I am back at the site. My first find is this coral fossil which I believe is a deposit from more recent times as this coral is uncharacteristic of local fossil fauna

This is what I've found so far: top is bryozoan fragments, middle is all the brachiopods I've found on an exposed outcropping, and at the very bottom is a lonely rugose coral

these are on the shoreline on almost opposite sides of Lake Buckenderra
No idea on the species, some sort of tube worms in the top one.
The old sea bed strata age is around 400 My

Can you find a trilobite and post it to me? I want to touch it, feel its fossilized form, and think of its non-sentient life in the ancient waters. Then spend many long lonely hours ruminating upon the meaning of immense periods of time and the nature of existence.

Where do you live? If you live in an area where there are marine sediment deposits you can more than likely find all varieties of fossils. I would say that having access to the strata of the Cincinnatian Ordovician arch is one of the few benefits of living in southeastern Indiana.
