Maybe but then life wouldn't have a chance to exist. Since it does that universe must be longer lived.

"Why" is something you ask a priest, not trying to be dismissive of religion, it's just a fact; the best answer "science" can come up as to why is, "because if all that stuff didn't happen the way it happened, we wouldn't be here to ask why did it happen that way"

Take it as you would, but an extrapolation of the Boltzmann Brain paradox is that a complete universe, with you, me, and whatever in our brains makes us think we have lived end experienced so far, could randomly pop into existence due to quantum fluctuations at any time, in a sufficiently long-lived and sufficiently vast Universe

Size is arbitrary, we're considered giants to bacteria and microorganiggers but relative to the moon we're tiny.
The chain does go up without end since the universe is infinitely large so any of its constituents or steps in this hierarchy are insignificant, no need to ogle.
