There's a live thread right now on panpsychism. Consciousness is discussed on this board plenty, I'm just presenting an alternative to the materialism that is often taken for granted around here.

I'm a Kantian. I would be a Schopenhauerian I just think there's no real reason to believe the thing-in-itself is Will. I believe Schopenhauer breaks Kant's rules and I think Schopenhauer expects you to take it on faith that the thing-in-itself is Will.

I don't think I understand Kant well enough to read Hegel yet, I have yet to really master the Critique of Pure Reason. I kind of feel like I'm beginning to adhere to Kant's dogma and I don't really like that. I prefer to reason rather than putting my faith in people or systems. Which is why I'm going to restart my philosophical journey with Heraclitus and Plato.

I'm going to go through history and enjoy the different thought phases, the different manifestations of the plant of philosophy until I reach the final manifestation, the fruit, at the end of the journey of philosophy (where I will probably restart at Heraclitus or Plato again).

I would learn German for Kant, Hegel, and Nietzsche but I'm already busy learning Ancient Greek for that sweet, sweet Plato and Aristotle in the original language.
