What was the most interesting notable constructive paper or event in science last month? Anything missing here? How could these results be used?

Is anybody here doing any kind of metascience, building general purpose tools for science, integrating new scientific results somewhere or using scientometrics? What are your thoughts on these things and on making science more accessible / open science?
