I was trying to "visualize" pi so I calculated the distance (difference) between the xth and zth decimals and their locations, and it gave me this shape. WTF does this mean?

but if you really did this, why is there a hole in the graph? at x = 10 and z = 30 there should be a point at 20 no?

Simple: That's a 2D plot, and an X/Y/difference plot would have 3 dimensions. He didn't mention anything about checking for equality to 0 or something (and doing so would make an even more symmetric diagram)
It also doesn't make sense to have a "negative decimal" of pi (other than maybe the initial 3), meaning the symmetry that is in the figure can't exist by taking him at his word.
