>>14305446/lit/ tourist here. This thread was on the frontpage and I thought I could offer my opinion.
I take 4 different antipsychotics. One of them costs $1500 a month without insurance or medicaid. I still hear voices. My delusions are such that medication can't fix them. They're metaphysical, religious, and philosophical in nature.
I'll just say that I think psychiatry is a racket because it assumes certain metaphysical assumptions and so forth. I think Freud is a hack. Psychiatry has its roots in Freud. I think my problems are spiritual. I don't think my problems are cause by a chemical imbalance in my brain. I'll just say that I share a lot of ideas with Kant, Schopenhauer and Hegel. The German Idealists, in other words.
I don't believe consciousness emerges from physical substance, like contemporary psychiatry does (and probably most of /sci/). I don't believe that an imbalance of neurotransmitters causes mental illness. I believe that in 200 years people of the future will look back at the neurotransmitter theory like we look at the four humours theory of medieval medicine.
I AM. This is an indubitable truth. How could I be crazy? It's impossible for me to be crazy.
