Proteins combine with other proteins or biomolecules to perform literally every biological task.
BAM, that's biology.
I understand the thermodynamic intricacies of those molecular processes. All the way down to the wavefunctions in the molecules.
You might be better at using pipettes, but I've done that a couple times too and it was easy.
ON ANOTHER NOTE...
I knew an old bio professor who had more knowledge/intuition about biology than I could ever have.
He would walk outside, put is hand on a tree, and say, "these leaves will start turning brown in 8 days". 8 days later... it happened.
He could identify a bird's species by its chirp, and also predict the severity of a drought based on their chirps.
This man may have been a professor but he was not an "academic". He literally spent his life among the animals, becoming one with their nature.
There are literal biochads who have so much intuition about biology that it's beyond what us physicists can comprehend.
But those are rare.
