FPBP. OP's pic hasn't accounted for that fact that those people are NOT engaging in the power process and instead are engaging in a surrogate activity for many of the reasons already listed. The disruption of the power process primarily happens through the stripping away of autonomy, and surrogate activities are empty ways of making up for that loss.

Even if he was an atheist, he wasn't ardent. He even comes across as an agnostic sometimes. In a few instances in ISAIF, Ted says that he doesn't know whether or not souls exist, but the aspect of humanity he's concerned about seems to be mostly free from the influence of any souls.

Not accurate. Such statements make hating people of Russian descent fashionable. This trend makes people want to actively harm any business or person related to Russia and volunteer to help Ukraine. I think they would, if my nation was invaded I'd feel a little better if I knew that thousands of westerners cared about me and my people. A lot of these people probably do also donate money to charities operating there.

Haven’t read it in a while but to me it sounds more like power process (associating yourself with those in power/powerful groups so that you feel powerful) rather than a surrogate activity (finding a way to give your life ‘purpose’ so that your Brian feels like you’re going through the essential motions of keeping yourself alive)
