In the entire Sub-national Division of 'Chukotka' which is the size of Alaska, or almost 3x the size of Texas there's only 50,000 people.
There are no major commercial, demographic, or industrial centers anywhere nearby. In the entierty of Far-Eastern Russia, an area twice the size of entire continent of Australia. And just under the size of the entire Contiguous United States there's only 8 million people.
How many Alaskans or Yukoners are desperate to drive over to Lavrentiya to sell stuff out of their car boot? Considering how frigid and cold it is, how many freighting companies and how many of their clients would prefer to opt for the icy, cold, exposed roads?
