Instead, I take the notes to create a personal sort of encyclopedia, which I can reference when I need to retrieve information or clusters of information that I precisely do NOT want to remember in detail. An example of such a cluster of information would be all the books that I have read as well as what I thought of them - all automatically queried into a clean table. Or upcoming exam dates inside my daily note, providing me all the information I need at a first glance.
So ultimately, it boils down to what you wish to use it for. Indeed, I agree that it's a waste of time to create notes for the sole purpose of studying, but I disagree that there's no other use in having notes. Vast amounts of information aren't worthy of being memorised and yet you'd want to have it accessible to you if the need arises. That's what notes are excellent for.
