>>14287542Congrats! You have several major labs to choose from along with numerous good universities to do research at. My recommendations are as follows:
- Keep your grades up (obviously).
- Don’t do drugs (if you are interning or working at a DOE lab, this will affect eligibility. Not impossible to get hired with drug use, but a pain in the ass).
- See if there’s an intro-ish class you can take to see if you even like the subject.
- Intern at a major academic lab or a National Lab. Gives you valuable experience, a path to a job, and again, allows you to see if you like the subject.
- Consider keeping your CS degree. You might be able to use that for computer modeling (supercomputing is BIG at DOE labs).
