Why can’t I do Gauss-Jordan properly? I get different solutions than the textbook solutions. I thought that solutions would be the same no matter what elementary row operations you used.

Funny but no. Everything conceptually makes sense. Even Vector Spaces. The process of back substitution and the consistency and inconsistency of the system all make sense to me. It’s just the fucking calculations. If the matrix is simple enough, no problem. But anything that deals with many rows and variables becomes a mess. I overthink and don’t know when to stop. Sometimes it’s easy to see when the back substitution becomes possible. Other times, not so much.
