Would it be possible to create a 2-dimensional world inside of this one? For example, using only 2d molecules and restricting movements into a 2 dimensional plane, is it possible to essentially create a new set of governing rules that could eventually lead to 2d life? I know this is "theoretically" possible, but would there be any sort of real-world restrictions? What could this 2d world look like? If there were some sort of containment device that always restricted these molecules in the 2d plane, what kind of rules governing this space would be dominant? Could life ever sustain itself in such an environment? Flatlanders need not apply, I'm talking about structure, not theory
