The US had nowhere near enough nukes to stop Soviet tanks from reaching the Atlantic, and by the time they did the Soviets had already caught up and were successfully testing their own hydrogen bombs. And if the US had nuked China, the precedent would be set for the Soviets to nuke Europe.

MacArthur and Von Neumann were both delusional in this aspect.

It's always amazed me that of all the countries to have a nuclear programme, National Socialist Germany, which we all know was the most evil thing to ever exist, was the only one which developed it for nuclear energy first and not to develop nuclear bombs.

That is ridiculous. You could have simply nuked moscow and a couple more cities and they capacity to do any kind of scientific research would dissappear.
But realistically, the USA was the one backing the USSR industrially. All these T-34 tanks were built with american steel, fueled by american diesel, all their planes were exported from america along with military rations.
Its as if the red army were just russian units of the american army. Cutting off the support would have destroyed them even before the battle.

Stupid, then you simply make more. Ramp up industrial production as was done anyway.
At the height of their power in 1945 the red army was much weaker than the american army simply because all its supplies were american. Russians simply operated american equipment.

How would it solve anything? Ukraine is playing with Nazism to help NATO secure more funding. NATO can easily find another target, they can even organize a coup to get a cooperative leader if necessary.
