When the first cellular division happens, there is a problem that has to be solved: There are two X chromosomes, which is pointless and can actually bring regulation problems down the line because it would duplicate the ammount of proteins translated.
The solution is to simply shut down one X chromosome, but that only happens after the first division. So one cell gets one X chromosome and the other cell gets the other X chromosome, and each cell will keep replicating and forming all the tissues of the bodies.
The implication of this is that if one X chromosome carries a mutation that the other does not it means that half of the female body will be different from the other, one way to check this is to see the difference in sweating in different parts of a female after covering her in blankets.
Although not everything here is weird or bad, it also gives them genetic resistance to bad genetic mutations if one X chromosome doesn't carry the mutation, the other can compensate the shortcoming.
