It's unlikely that IVM is completely inert towards COVID-19 and may even play in the same league as already prescribed meds, but it is communicated as a 80-90% effective wonder treatment that cures long covid, vaccine side effects and whatnot.
They jump through so many hoops to uphold that narrative and that's why it's fiercly opposed by those that see through it.
Dirt cheap dexamethasone and prophylactic heparin made it into treatment protocols already on a limited evidence base because the people that pushed it knew how to communicate benefits and uncertainties in a balanced and relaxed manner.
If the IVM crowd promoted that drug like dexa and heparin were promoted, it would have been in widespread, authorized use and no one would have ever called it a "horse dewormer" or flung shit at those who pioneered it.
