>>14243295There was a period of my life where I didn't shower for 11 months. Why? Well, I just wanted to be more animalistic. I was tired of modernity. None of my friends, none of my family, not even mom ever complained about me smelling or my hair being dirty (she absolutely would have). I still did everything else - brush teeth, launder clothes, other hygiene shit, etc. Just didn't shower.
Ever since then, really got me thinking about the common man's over-reliance on modern technology and assumptions of standard living. Clearly, I came to the conclusion that the only purpose of showering was to really only remove dirt from the hair and skin, say nothing of "general cleanliness" or smelling nice. I cared about being clean of course, but showering did not contribute to that goal.
Now of course, I shower every day or every other day now, because my job keeps me active enough to where I need to shower to actually remove odor and dirt. But if I went back to a sedentary office life again, I probably wouldn't shower. Well, I wouldn't ever go back to being sedentary ever again - I've found being /fit/ is extremely enjoyable. So I'll probably have to shower on days I hit lifts pretty hard regardless.
I also started sleeping in hammocks instead of beds, lighting candles instead of using lights, going on an all carnivore diet, going completely nocturnal and sleeping during the day, etc. Actually pretty cozy. Lots of things change when you start deviating and questioning long standing assumptions and things you thought were extremely basic.
I would like to say people should be more willing to embrace their animal side and live a bit more of a non-modern lifestyle, but considering the average person is a fat lazy slob, it would absolutely not work for them. They WOULD smell after not showering a day. They are disgusting, truly.
