this is only my personal experience but i never felt like i was being exploited or that it's exceptionally hard work. if you told me that my experience at FAANG/MANGA/FAGMAN is the same as any other big company i would believe you.
that being said there are people who work insane hours. some teams are very demanding and the engineers work weekends and ridiculous hours to keep up. i've only worked on weekends once or twice so far

the kind of person that usually ends up in FAANG/MANGA are naturally competitive. when you're young and have the opportunity to become a millionaire by 25 or a multi millionaire by 30, it compels you to try harder, but older people give less of a shit.
