>>14235855Frankly, does it even matter? There are literally no benefits to being circumcised that don't derive from circumcision being culturally normal in certain countries. You gain NOTHING from being circumised, and neither does the population which practices circumcision. On the other hand, there's risk of infection, serious deformity, sexual dysfunction, and in general circumcision sullies the "perfection" of the birth by introducing pain and blood into the endstate of a process that by nature is normally wondrous and fantastical for those who make it through the childbirth itself.
I realize this doesn't answer your question, but contesting circumcision on the grounds of psychological damage is a BAD idea. Firstly, it makes those affected by circumcision out to be defective, like circumcision is bad because it is "inefficient" or something. Secondly, the prescribed response to psychological trauma is generally therapy, not the correction of the problem. Thirdly, for those skeptical of psychology already, the appeal to psychology will look like "ban circumcision because it makes me le sad :'( ". It's a bad argument to make.
Circumcision is bad because it's dangerous, permanently scars the penis, and has ZERO benefits. The psychology aspect should never really come up.
