The absurdity is most apparent in mathematics, It always makes me chuckle when I see some "mathematician" deriding the work of a "crank mathematician", like "Your work does not adhere to the common completely made up theoretical framework and instead adheres to its own completely made up theoretical framework and is therefore incorrect". I know they need their welfare check, but come on, it's just silly at this point. If you really cared about mathematics, you would be itching to learn about any new framework you came across.
