>>14220651>Why isn't eugenics and transhumanism more mainstream?Because eugenics is a system that selectively chooses the "best" attributes of a person, and because of what is and isn't the "best" attribute, is subjective from person to person, most people (especially the ones being decreed having negative attributes) will disagree with the system and say its wrong and try to overthrow or change the system of merit so that they can be included. Add in the fact that that most humans want to have children and pass down their genes "good" or "bad" regardless and you can see that it will be inevitable that the large "bad" group of people will want to naturally overthrow/ change the system.
And because eugenics usually chooses a minority of a group of people, the negative attributes group will usually win and get rid of the system and those who endorsed it, usually saying they were "evil" or that there are no "bad" attributes. And how we should accept everyone for who they are yada yada yada. You get the picture.
For the transhumanism part, I think it has more to do with the fact that there aren't that many "transhumanist" technologies that can be easily implanted into the human body so most people, except those with an already big interest in it, can access it. So it doesn't become mainstream. Give it 20 more years and you should see a decent amount of development.
