i've read so many papers where the researchers completely forgot context, circumstances, and scope which resulted in incorrect conclusions.
just look back the grade b milk fiasco.
researchers discovered how to make cows produce more milk by changing the quantity of histamine. but never looked far enough ahead to see what effects higher quantities of histamine would have on people who drank that milk.
in order to achieve that perfect pill requires high degree of knowledge in multiple disciplines. people spend 30-50 years just trying to get a high level in just one discipline.
they don't know about toxicology, or nutritional sciences, let alone have a full understanding of how each gene/protein/molecule modification will affect the greater system.
so many indirect feedback loops its almost impossible for humans to achieve that magic pill without having enough knowledge to literally create universes on command.
