>>14208354This is a very well-done image, in that this is both an incredibly Asuka move and an incredibly Evangelion moment. Notice that Asuka has a donut in her mouth and whipped cream in her hand. She has left it ambiguous which donut and whipped cream she wants you to eat. With Asuka's personality, she is actually asking for you to choose her donut and kiss her.
It also showcases the differences between Asuka and Rei very well. You can see that Askua's in a sexually-active stance, with bright eyes, a smile, and a cunning plan. At the same time, she's diverted attention from herself and her desires, hiding behind Rei, who is infinitely more confident. Rei, by contrast, is completely passive. Even the eroticism of the current moment has only been created by Asuka, who put the donut and whipped cream on her ass. We have no idea what Rei wants or if she even cares what happens, but at the same time, she is completely available for the taking should we so choose. She has incredible power over us and utterly steals our attention, but we are unable to tell if she even has a face.
However, it goes even further. We, the observer, represent Shinji. No matter what happens, we cannot ever eat either donut - it's just a picture, after all. In this picture, all that exists is a single moment in time, perfectly captured. Infinite potential, but no forward motion. All we can do is masturbate at one fiction or another, never capable of taking that one step forward that would lead us into paradise. It's so close that you can practically taste it, but we're powerless.
I think it's impressive that a simple lewd pic was able to capture so much of the essence of Evangelion in a single contrived moment involving nothing but donuts and whipped cream. Kudos to the artist for understanding Evangelion in a deeper way than /a/ and certainly /v/ ever will.
