most fears are rational and normal, the idea is to channel your fear into action rather than be paralyzed by it. for example you see this in wild animals all the time, if the animal thinks it's completely fucked it will freeze and accept death, but if it feels it has a chance it will engage some type of instinctual response to survive. having no fears is ridiculous and getting over your fears is probably unwise. you should be careful doing most things because being careful is paying attention, collecting information, thinking about that the inputs are, understanding what time scales you're working with and coming up with some strategy or plan to pursue. imagine if everyone sleepwalked through life crossing roads without looking and freezing up when they hear screeching tires and horns.
