i keep being criticized for being logical in conversations.
example:
>THEM: "...or a racist like Trump*."
Me: "I don't like Trump much either, and I'd love to call him a racist, too. What's the evidence?"
>THEM: "WHY ARE YOU DEFENDING TRUMP?"
Me: "What? I'm not. If I'm going to describe someone as a racist (or a philantropist, or in elite physical shape, or a Fields medal winner, or bald, etc) I need evidence of that."

...bad feelings ensue, and I'm "the cause".

I want to have nice conversations with people, but when people assert things that seem unproven I ask ---- and it always ends badly.
