You can train as a software engineer by going to community college, or learn to be a web designer by taking free online classes. But if you want to learn how to make video games, a four-year degree won’t cut it. While that’s a $260,000 bill to drop on, you can spend a fraction of that and get a marketable degree with courses like those offered through Udacity.

I have two friends who went into this with very different results. One got a job soon after graduating, the other is a semester or two from graduating and doesn't know how to program. Why? Because from what I've heard, they don't teach you how to program at university. I think community college is way better about this. So my advice is to depend on yourself to learn this stuff, the bachelors is just a certificate. They don't teach you how to program at uni because they assume you already know how from doing it as a hobby.

Also learn python first PLEASE.

In my Eurostan country, you can worm your way through a CS degree never picking a single module that requires programming (some "advanced" math major subjects are required, though). It's actually comical. But no way you are passing an actual module that contains programming without ever actually coding.

Pure bullshit answer. This is so fucking stupid, you don't learn how to program in a class. Make apps. Design apps. Learn several programming languages. Learn all the programming APIs. Put yourself out there on one of the freelancing websites. Deliver what the customer wants, better than he wants it. Gain the experience and climb the ladder.

Focus on spending three consecutive days doing nothing, truly nothing. No music, reading, writing, conversations, going for walks, etc. You can eat only a typical 3 meals.

On day 4, you're allowed to continue or read K&R.
