>>14201391>There's nothing we can do to stop the resource crunch or climate changeSigh, back in the days it was the malthusian collapse or nuclear war. Now it is these two things. Among thsoe 4, nuclear war would be the only one that could cause a global collapse and death of billions. Climate change is no existential threat, neither is ressource scarcity. We have enough alternative methods for energy production and material on earth alone to last ten thousand years, even if technology magically cases to be developed. Cimate change is complex, some will profit from it (Russia, Canada), but most will lose thanks to desertification and coastal loss but humanity will not just survive it but thrive. Europe and other regions experienced local drops of temperature before and during those the age of exploration occured, entire dynasties were built and civilization progressed further. The calculated effects of climate change is bad, but it won`t cause a collapse of human civilization. Only a global nuclear war could so and one wouldn`t cause the extinction of humanity and loss of knowledge. From the ashes, some societies would survive and after 20 years nations would rise again.
Interstellar travel is possible via laser highways, fusion drive or exo-stellar object hopping. What is true is that it won`t be baseline that will colonize the galaxy but various forms of transhumans/posthumans.
