There is another form of geothermal, which is similar to fracking, I think it is called enhanced geothermal energy. It can be built almost anywhere but is still expensive to build.
Huge initial investment, but very low maintenance. Perhaps once we start running out of easily accessible fossil fuels, it would be relatively cheaper, but for now, it is just cheaper to use fossil fuels.
