Extended railroad to remote regions really should not present a problem. American pioneers laid railroad across the entire country with much more primitive technology back in the 1800s. The Soviet Union also managed to construct the trans-Siberian railroad through very remote wilderness and tundra with not much more technology than the American pioneers had, on top of that they even managed to electrify the entire main line!
Why could people do this 100+ years ago but not today despite the tremendous benefits conferred by modern technology. Has western civilization fallen so far?
It's sad that North America has managed to fall behind China and the pre-WWII Soviet Union. Actually, "fall" is a disingenuous word, it implies Western civilization succumbed to some force beyond its control. No, the US and Canada are willfully destroying themselves.
