We need neural nanotech capable of rebuilding the brain over time, I think. By the time all the prereq techs come together, I don't think people will want cryonics for much. Total freezing is such a destructive process that we'll have to repair everything anyways. Cryonics is just a particularly good way to leave behind enough of a husk that some future person might work on it.
