>>14194707Wood is one of the biggest breakthrough in evolution
Coal was the result of wood's dominance being completely unchallenged throughout the entire Carboniferous period (400MYA)
It is so powerful, it sealed all the carbon in the atmosphere and caused the Earth to cool down so hard it also caused a minor extinction event.
And that's not including the breakthrough brought about from flowering trees compared with non-flowering ones. Flowering means that their genetic diversity is absurd and cannot be easily extinct by diseases
Both these breakthroughs were only made possible by extinction events. If Aliens never had the same stroke of luck, it is not impossible that they would want the things that are unique to us.
For example:
If they are still stuck in fern-like ecosystem, the genetic diversity of their ecosystem would be dangerously low and they would demand a massive import of our agricultural produce for the sake of ensuring their survival in the long run, especially in varying ecosystems
Earth is absolutely teeming with life broughout by so many trials and error. Aliens that prospered in the "Boring Billion" would be at the mercy of our fast-paced and kill-or-be-killed evolutionary route
