I'm actually trying to understand what happened here.
Old news in CNN, WashingtonPost, NewYorkTimes reporting over 80,000 US deaths 2017-2018 winter. The three of them say CDC is their source and give (now) death links to the CDC page.
They also talk about death numbers per season between 12,000 - 50,000. The news is about 2017-2018 being a bad year.
Go to the current CDC page. It reports 5,700 deaths for the same period. Can't find a year with over 6,000 deaths.
Has CDC changed its data? It's hard to believe all that media lied about CDC's report while linking to it.
