Biologists don't necessarily use mathematical models, but Biology is a science. The problem with psychology is that they're trying to study animal (human) behavior, but that in itself is an emerging property of things studied in other sciences (Biology, Chemistry). It's basically too complex for anyone to truly understand. Just because most psychology majors are midwits (I have no idea, this is what I heard), it doesn't mean that if you put math or physics people to do do psychology, that they would come up with anything worthwhile. It's the exact same problem that you see with Economics. I've seen Physicists try to deal with Economics, and they usually go nowhere.
