>>14179392- As I already stated Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Infectious Disease are all based, but if you don't have an interest in them you will hate it (especially ID). Problem is that they are subspecialties so you will probably have to become a IM hospitalist first and then subspecialize. IM residency can be fucking awful.
- Radiology and Path can be comfy but you have to be the kind of person that likes this type of job. What some people don't realize is just how much studying Rad and Path requires, you will have to read A LOT throughout your residency. Not sure about Slovenia, but it is common that in Rad you need to subspecialize in something or else its hard to find a good job.
-PM&R is nice but get ready for everybody you know to think you're not a real doctor and just a physiotherapist. Even some doctors don't know that PM&R is a medical specialty. It is probably the least "prestige" specialty. It is an interesting field but I think many people might find it boring too.
-Some niche IM subspecialties Allergy can be comfy, BUT be careful about the job market, especially in a small country like Slovenia.
- I wouldn't get into any surgery at all, shit hours, too much stress and responsibility and you usually work on call even as an experienced attending.
- Cardiology and Gastro would be off my list as well because they are so procedure based. Cardio can be high stress and you have to do a lot of procedures. Gastro is fucking horrible (imagine putting cameras into mouths and butts all day) and the only reason people go into it is for the money.
- Never would I become a IM hospitalist, most cucked and retarded specialty there is. Talk all day about electrolytes of dying patients in the ICU, see people die 24/7, call, night shifts.
- Psych is a big no from me. It is horrible to be around mentally ill people.
- Anesthesiology depends on the person. You don't do anything 95% of the day and then 5% you have pure stress.
