Hi /sci/

I would love to share a brief anecdote with you and would like to ask for some advice about a math question.

I am naturally ungifted at math and never had a drive to improve myself, I had a series of meaningless jobs and always considered myself bad at math. I was raised in a cult growing up and our math teacher was not able to grasp anything above pre-algebra.

Once I was 24, I entered into community college.

I was placed into simple math (7th grade math), then pre-algebra, then college algebra/trig, now im in precal and I feel now that im 27, and everyone in my class is 20-22, I feel as if an overwhelming sense of guilt is washed over me. I never understood math but now that the fog is slowly lifting over my eyes for every small concept I learn I am incredibly sad that I was not able to learn this earlier.

Is there any advice for someone who is learning pre-cal and needs to take up to Calc 1/Physics? Is there something I should focus on? Is there anything I shouldn't do? Is it worth hiring a tutor?

thank you.
