Are there any scientific techniques which would all one to differentiate between the posting efforts of legitimate, well intended posters and the posts of aggressively manipulative political activists who are trying to imitate legitimate, well intended posters?

Yes, you could fine tune gpt-3 to classify posts based on authenticity, good faith, or any other subjective metric. Categorizing the training data would be time consuming. Conveniently, a massive dataset of /pol/ posts was recently released so you don't need to manually collect an archive of posts. https://zenodo.org/record/3606810
You would need to categorize them with a shill scale. Categorize several thousand at a bare minimum for training. It'll take a while, but it should work. gpt-3 is exceptionally good at learning nuance like this, provided your criteria for what is a shill post is not random.

Oh nevermind, that dataset is 2 years old. I misread the date as 2022. But it should still do the trick. I'm not aware of a more comprehensive archive that is formatted so conveniently for machine learning purposes.

The model doesn't need to understand the meaning behind the posts. Presumably OP has some criteria for what constitutes a shill post, even if he can't articulate it. It isn't outside the realm of possibility that the model would learn the criteria based on what it does understand--word choice, sentence structure, flag, number of posts in the thread (on boards that support that), etc.
