Also, this thread reeks of freshman cope. There are CS and engineering majors who are good at and study mathematics and physics. It’s also true vice versa.
There are a lot of math profs who study recursion theory.
There are a lot of CS profs who study algebraic geometry (esp after cryptography).
There are a lot of physics profs who study ML (lots of mean field methods from physics shows up in learning).
There are a lot of engineering profs who do quantum optics.
Mathematical STEM constantly overlaps with itself. Stop worrying about who knows the most and focus on problems that interest you. Take the side of whoever funds you the most to do what you like. Ego doesn’t publish and certainly doesn’t put bread on the table.
