A lot of people on the surface would be inconvenienced by all the debris that hasn't burnt up in the atmosphere. Then, if enough life survives the event itself, pretty much every multicellular living is going to be affected by the disappearance of tides. A lot of life is tuned to react to that, and those that aren't depend on or interact with those they do.
